When a lost phone is found, the goal is to reunite it with its owner as quickly and securely as possible while respecting privacy.
These instructions are intended for use at information desks for phones found in terminals.

Finding Contact Information on a Locked Phone
If you find a lost phone, you may be able to identify or contact the owner without unlocking it.
iPhone
- Wake the phone.
- If prompted, swipe up to reach the passcode screen.
- Tap Emergency in the lower-left corner.
- Tap Medical ID, if it appears.
- Look for the owner's name, emergency contacts, or medical information.
- Tap an emergency contact to call them, or note the information so you can contact them from another phone.
If the owner has not set up Medical ID, the Medical ID option may not appear.
Android
- Wake the phone.
- On the lock screen, tap Emergency or Emergency Call.
- Look for Emergency Information, Medical Info, View Emergency Information, or an information icon.
- View the owner's name, emergency contacts, or medical information, if available.
- On some phones, emergency contacts can be called directly from this screen.
Android wording varies by manufacturer and version.
If No Emergency Information Is Available
Do not attempt to bypass the passcode. Keep the phone powered on if possible. If it rings, answer and explain that you found it. Otherwise, turn it in to the appropriate lost-and-found location.
If you find a lost phone:

Do not access personal content.
Do not browse texts, emails, photos, or apps. -
Answer incoming calls.
If the phone rings, you are permitted to answer. Politely explain that the phone has been found and gather identifying information if appropriate. Be mindful not to share detailed location or personal information without reasonable verification. -
Call Paging at 602-273-3455 if the owner's name can be determined.
If the owner's name is visible (such as on the lock screen or via a caller), request an overhead page. -
Notify Central Lost and Found.
Call Lost and Found at 602-273-3333. After hours, call Operations at 602-273-3302 to report the found phone and your location. -
If the owner cannot be located promptly:
Contact Operations to arrange for the phone to be picked up.
Important Reminders:
- Handle phones carefully to avoid damage.
- Respect the owner's privacy at all times.
- Never attempt to unlock, reset, or alter a found phone.
